Taxi Fare Calculator UK – Instant Airport Taxi Prices
Use the UK Airport Taxi fare calculator to calculate the cost of your taxi to or from any major UK airport in seconds. Every airport taxi quote is fixed. No surge, no hidden fees, no card charges at the door.

How Our Taxi Fare Calculator Works

Four steps from postcode to fixed quote. No account, no card details, no callback required.

1. Enter your pick-up location

Type any UK postcode, town or airport — Luton, Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted or wherever you're starting from. The calculator handles UK addresses, business postcodes and all major UK airport codes.

2. Add your drop-off

Drop-off can be another airport, a London hotel, a postcode or a cruise terminal. Long-distance UK routes are priced the same way as local ones — one fixed fare, all-inclusive.

3. Pick your travel date and vehicle

Choose your date, your return leg if you need one, and the vehicle size. Saloon for 1–4 passengers, 2 large suitcases and 2 hand bags. Business Class for 1–4 passengers, 2 large suitcases and 2 hand bags. MPV6 for 1–5 passengers, 3 large suitcases and 2 hand bags. MPV8 for 1–8 passengers, 8 large suitcases and 8 hand bags.

4. Get your fixed airport taxi quote

The calculator returns your fixed airport taxi price in seconds. Every quote includes driving time, motorway tolls, congestion charges, free baby and child seats, and flight monitoring on the return leg.

What's Included in Your Airport Taxi Fare?

Every UK Airport Taxi fare is a fixed price that includes the full cost of your airport taxi — there are no hidden charges added at the door. The figure you see on the calculator is the figure you pay.

Your airport taxi fare includes:
  • All driving time from pick-up to drop-off
  • All airport pick-up and drop-off charges
  • Motorway tolls and the London Congestion Charge where applicable
  • Free baby seats and child seats — just tell us the ages at booking
  • Flight monitoring with free waiting time on delayed inbound flights
  • 40 minutes free waiting time from the actual landing time of your flight
Optional add-ons:
  • Meet and greet at Arrivals with a name board — £20

No airport taxi fee, no peak-hour markup, no surge. You'll see the fixed airport taxi price the moment you enter your route.

Fixed Airport Taxi Quote vs Metered Taxi Fare

Most UK taxi calculators give you an approximate taxi fare based on a meter rate. Ours gives you a fixed airport taxi quote — the actual price you pay, locked in at booking.
There are three ways to price an airport taxi in the UK:

1. Fixed-fare quote (what we offer)

You see the fare before you book. The price covers driving time, tolls, congestion charges, airport pick-up and drop-off charges, and 40 minutes of waiting time. The figure on the calculator is the figure you pay — whatever the traffic, whatever the time of day.

2. Metered black cab fare

A London black cab uses a TfL-regulated meter that starts at £4.40 and increases by distance and time. The meter keeps running if you sit in traffic. Black cab tariffs rose by 2.88% in April 2026. You won't know the final fare until you arrive — and a delayed journey costs more, not less. Full rates are on the TfL taxi fares page.

3. Rideshare estimate (Uber, Bolt and similar)

Rideshare apps give an estimate that can rise with surge pricing — typically at peak commuter hours, late nights, weekends and during bad weather. A 5am airport run can cost 1.5–2x the off-peak quote.
Our calculator is built for airport runs specifically. You won't see an approximate taxi fare, an estimate, or a meter rate. You'll see a fixed UK airport taxi price for the route you've entered — and that's the price you pay.

Luton Airport (LTN)

Luton Airport sits five minutes from our Luton office on the A1081, just off the M1 at junction 10. Saloon transfers to LTN start from £25. Local pick-ups from Bedford, Hitchin, Stevenage and Milton Keynes are priced for the route, not the meter. See full Luton airport taxi prices.

Gatwick Airport (LGW)

Gatwick has two terminals — South and North — connected by a free 24-hour inter-terminal shuttle. Your driver tracks your flight number and meets you at the correct terminal. Saloon transfers to LGW start from £38. See Gatwick airport taxi prices.

Stansted Airport (STN)

Choose the Right Vehicle for Your Fare

The right vehicle depends on three things: how many people are travelling, how much luggage you have, and the level of comfort you need. Pick the vehicle below that fits and the calculator returns a fixed fare for that exact route and vehicle size.

Card image cap
Saloon

VW Passat, Toyota Prius or similar. Our saloon car category can accommodate up to 4 passengers plus 2 standard suitcases (23kg max) and 2 small bags, or 4 passengers plus hand luggage. Any more luggage than this will require a larger vehicle

Business Class

E Class Mercedes or similar. Our business class car category can accommodate up to 4 passengers plus 2 standard suitcases (23kg max) and 2 small bags, or 4 passengers plus hand luggage. Any more luggage than this will require a larger vehicle.

Mini Passenger Van 6

VW Sharan, Seat Alhambra or similar. Our Mini Passenger Van 6 or People Carrier category can accommodate up to 5 passengers plus 3 standard suitcases (23kg max) and 2 small bags. Any more luggage than this will require a larger vehicle.

Mini Passenger Van 8

Mercedes Vito, Toyota Proace or similar. Our Mini Passenger Van 8 or 8 Seater Minibus category can accommodate up to 8 passengers plus 8 standard suitcases (23kg max) and 8 small bags. Any more luggage than this will require a larger vehicle.

Saloon

The default choice for 1–4 passengers with standard luggage. Used for most airport runs — solo travellers, couples, and small families heading off for a week.

Business Class

Same capacity as the saloon, executive trim. Used by business travellers who want a clean, quiet ride and a vehicle that looks the part on the company expense report. Vehicles include the Mercedes E-Class and equivalent.

MPV6

The right call for families travelling with prams, pushchairs and extra cases — or for a group of five who all need a seat and a suitcase.

MPV8

For groups of up to eight, large family parties, wedding groups and visiting relatives flying in with full luggage. One vehicle instead of two saloons — and noticeably cheaper per person.

How to Get the Cheapest Airport Taxi Quote

1. Book in advance, not on the day

Booked taxis are priced for the route. Same-day Uber and Bolt prices change with demand — a 5am airport run can cost 1.5–2x the off-peak quote. A fixed quote 48 hours ahead removes that risk entirely.

2. Pick the right vehicle for the group size

A saloon for two people is cheaper than an MPV6. An MPV6 for five people is cheaper than two saloons. The mistake most people make is over-booking — choosing an 8-seater when a saloon would do — or under-booking and discovering at the door that the luggage won't fit. Match the vehicle to the headcount and the bags.

3. Share the cost across the group

A £138 saloon split four ways is £34.50 a head — cheaper than National Express from most home counties towns once you add the train to the coach station. The calculator shows the total fare, so dividing it across travellers takes three seconds.
Use the calculator above to compare a fixed UK airport taxi price against your other options before you book. If the fixed quote isn't the cheapest option for your route, the calculator will show you exactly why.

Long Distance Taxi Fare Calculator

A long distance taxi fare calculator works the same way as a local one — enter the route, get a fixed price — but the savings are bigger. Long UK runs are where metered fares, multiple train tickets and luggage fees stack up fastest.
Common long-distance airport taxi routes priced as a single fixed fare:

  • Manchester to Heathrow — saloon and MPV options, fixed for the route
  • Cambridge to Gatwick — direct, no airport-rail-connection juggling
  • Bedford to Stansted — local pick-up at a Heathrow-route price
  • Birmingham to Luton — one driver, one vehicle, one price
For routes over 100 miles, an MPV6 or MPV8 booked for the group is usually cheaper per traveller than two saloons or four train tickets — and removes the late-night station change that kills the budget on a train-and-cab combo.
The calculator handles long-distance UK routes the same way as airport runs. Enter your pick-up and drop-off and the fixed price covers the full journey, motorway tolls included.

Taxi Fare Calculator UK – Estimated vs Fixed Fare

An estimated taxi fare calculator gives you an approximate price based on distance and an average traffic rate. A fixed airport taxi fare calculator — like ours — gives you the actual price you pay, locked in at the moment you book.
The difference matters most on airport runs. A fare estimate that creeps up by £15–£25 in real traffic is the difference between making your flight relaxed and arguing with a driver at 4am. A fixed taxi fare estimate calculator removes that risk entirely.
There are two ways most UK calculators quote a price:

  • Estimated fare a calculator taxi fare based on distance, average speed and a traffic assumption. The actual price you pay can be higher or lower depending on the day.
  • Fixed fare the price is locked when you book. Traffic, time of day, motorway tolls and waiting time are all included.
Our UK airport taxi fare calculator returns a fixed fare. The price on the screen is the price the driver charges — not an estimate, not a starting figure, not a guide.

Taxi Fare Calculator FAQs

How do I calculate a taxi fare in the UK?

Use a fare calculator that returns a fixed price, not a meter estimate. Enter your pick-up postcode, your drop-off and your travel date — the calculator returns the actual fare for the route. The UK Airport Taxi calculator quotes for every major UK airport, with the price locked at booking.

How much does a taxi to the airport cost?

A taxi to a UK airport typically costs between £25 and £150 depending on the route, the vehicle size and the time of day. UK Airport Taxi gives a fixed price for every airport transfer — saloon fares to Luton start from £25, Heathrow from £40, and Manchester from £30. The calculator returns the exact price for your route before you book.

Is the airport taxi quote fixed or an estimate?

It's a fixed price. The figure returned by the calculator is the figure the driver charges — there is no meter, no surge, and no extra charges for traffic, motorway tolls or card payments. The price is locked the moment you complete the booking.

What affects the cost of a taxi to the airport?

Three things move the price: the distance from your pick-up to the airport, the size of the vehicle (a saloon costs less than an MPV6 or MPV8), and the time of travel. With UK Airport Taxi the quote is fixed at booking — peak-hour bookings cost the same as off-peak.

Is an airport taxi cheaper if I book in advance?

Yes — booking in advance locks in a fixed fare and removes the risk of surge pricing. Uber and Bolt prices can rise 1.5–2x during peak hours, weekends and bad weather. A fixed quote booked 24–48 hours ahead protects against that entirely.

Does the fare include airport pick-up and drop-off charges?

Yes. Every UK Airport Taxi fare includes the full airport pick-up and drop-off charges, motorway tolls, the London Congestion Charge where applicable, and 40 minutes of waiting time from your actual landing time. Meet and greet at Arrivals with a name board is an optional £20 add-on.

Can I calculate a return airport taxi fare?

Yes. Enter both an outbound and return date in the calculator and the system returns a combined fixed price for the round trip. Return pick-ups are tracked against your inbound flight number — if the flight is delayed, the driver waits at no extra charge.

Can I book a 6-seater or 8-seater taxi through the calculator?

Yes. Select MPV6 (1–5 passengers, 3 large suitcases plus 2 hand bags) or MPV8 (1–8 passengers, 8 large suitcases plus 8 hand bags) at the vehicle step. The calculator returns the fixed fare for the larger vehicle on the same route — usually cheaper per traveller than two saloons.

Is this a black cab fare calculator?

No. UK Airport Taxi is a private hire operator licensed by Luton Borough Council. The calculator returns a fixed pre-booked fare — not a metered black cab rate. London black cab meters start at £4.40 and rise with distance and time. A pre-booked fixed fare is usually cheaper on airport routes and removes the meter-traffic risk.

Can I use the calculator for long-distance taxi journeys?

Yes. The same calculator handles long-distance UK routes — Manchester to Heathrow, Cambridge to Gatwick, Birmingham to Luton, and any other UK postcode-to-airport combination. One fixed price covers the full journey including motorway tolls.

How much luggage can I take in an airport taxi?

Capacity depends on the vehicle. A saloon takes 2 large suitcases and 2 hand bags. Business Class takes the same. MPV6 takes 3 large suitcases and 2 hand bags. MPV8 takes 8 large suitcases and 8 hand bags. Extra luggage is included in the fixed fare — there are no per-bag charges.

Is an airport taxi cheaper than parking at the airport for a week?

Often yes. Meet & Greet parking at Luton, Stansted or Gatwick typically runs £85–£140 for a week, before fuel and motorway charges. A return saloon transfer from a nearby town often comes in lower, with no driving at 4am, no walking through a dark car park, and no fuel cost on top.

How much is a taxi from London to Luton airport?

A saloon taxi from central London to Luton Airport (LTN) starts from £138 with UK Airport Taxi, fixed at booking. The journey is around 35 miles via the M1 and typically takes 60–75 minutes off-peak. The price covers all driving time, tolls and 40 minutes of waiting time from your landing.
